Our child(ren) will be 1/2 chinese, 1/2 white (english/irish/finnish). I don't have a very good grasp of cantonese, but my mom will be speaking to them in chinese and hopefully they will be like me and catch on.

When we get lucky, we will have a mixed ethnic background - I was born in Thailand (adopted at 6 weeks old to American/Austrian parents). My husband is half Italian, half German/Irish. I think our future kids will be pretty cute!

Mine will by 1/2 white and 1/2 Taiwanese {my husband was born there and speaks fluent Chinese}. I'm hoping he can speak Chinese to them to help keep some of the culture alive. I'm sure my MIL will help with this as well.

Our future children will be 1/2 Korean and 1/2 white (50% german/polish).

I'm hoping that with my parents and my ability to speak Korean fluently, our kids will be able to embrace their Korean culture as much as their dad has :) Hubby loves Korean food and we like it a few times a week. I' m hoping when my mom babysits that she will be able to speak to them in Korean and I can hopefully keep up with it.

I'm complete white bread, but the husbone is 1/4 white, 1/4 choctaw, 1/4 peruvian, & 1/4 quechua {inca} indian. So our kids will all be registered with the choctaw nation & I'm sure that we will go to pow-wows & then nico will only be speaking spanish to the kids & I will only be speaking english, so we're also hoping to bring the up bi-lingual. I hope they'll pick up some choctow from nico's brother, too.

Elliot is 1/2 Chinese and 1/2 Vietnamese. I sometimes wonder if he will identify with both, more strongly with one over the other, or just simply as an American.

Our child(ren) will be Amerasian-- I'm Vietnamese and the hubs is "white" (mostly German; his dad was born in Berlin). We both want to pass down as much of our own cultures as possible, which will be a little easier for me. We live in Orange County near Little Saigon, so they'll have plenty of access to the Vietnamese culture. I also speak VNmese fluently (I can't read or write, though), and my mom is going to be a big part of their upbringing so she can teach them more stuff.

Hubs' parents didn't teach him any German, so he's a typical "American" guy. So it'll be a little harder to expose them to that culture.

I am mixed (korean/Black/Hispanic) as well as my husband (Filipino/German) so Sae is of course all of that. We try to keep as much of her cultures alive in her as we can. My hubs speaks pasian (sp?) and tagalog fluently so it's a bit easier for him. plus he knows hwo to cook many filipino dishes. I on the otherhand speak some korean and spanish but am in no way fluent. I also cook many of the dishes and follow many of the traditions at home. as for the black part of myside noth really stood out to me while growing up (as far as traditions etc) my dad is pretty all american (with an strong Asian influence). I am hoping to take a tagalog class as well brush up on my korean to teach Sae and our future children.

I'm Vietnamese and my husband is a mix of German, Native American, and Irish. Growing up my parents worked really hard to make sure that we never lost our culture and that is what I hope to do for my children. I plan to only talk to them in Vietnamese when they're young and my husband will talk to them in english, so they get the best of both worlds. There will definitely be a lot of holidays in our house, St. Pattys Day, Easter, Lunar New Year, Moon Festival, Thanksgiving etc... :)

Our children will be mixed euro as well. To be honest, I'm not even sure of my ethnicity percentages besides being Canadian French, English, and Scottish. My husband knows his percentages, but he's pretty diluted, haha. He's mostly Polish and Russian, but also Greek and Scottish. Besides some Polish food my husband loves, our children probably won't feel drawn to one ethnicity over another. Though they may curse their inability to tan and how easily they burn, haha.

Our baby will be a mix of European (French and Irishfrom me, italian from dh) and Native American. My husband is 25% native and it will be important to us to follow certain Native traditions and will have him/her register with the tribe etc.

My baby will be half Korean, a quarter Sicilian, and a quarter French by blood. I am also adopted so they will get plenty of Italian and Polish culture mixed in too! I really want my children to be proud of their Korean heritage but I don't have the Korean family and culture readily available (being adopted and living in predominately white suburbia). I'll probably try using the bits of Korean I speak and food, but I wish I could do more.

I'm Korean and my husband is Chinese. I have no idea how we'll perserve each culture. Food, like Bee said, is one way. Since the hubs and I barely speak our respective languages (conversational, at best) we might rely on our parents to speak to/teach our daughter.

Any future children we have will be half Vietnamese (husband) and half white (me). Unfortunately, my husband doesn't really understand his culture well (can't explain it to me) and his Vietnamese language skills aren't very strong. I expect our children to be taught the Vietnamese language and experience what they can of the culture, but they will live a very traditionally american lifestyle.

Our baby will be half white(italian/irish mainly) and korean. I'm really excited about seeing what he/she will look like. (Since I'm not pregnant yet, or even close - we don't plan on TTC until Marchish) Anyway, I was adopted by an American family so I seem to associate with the American traditions. So even though my child will be half asian - they'll be brought up with an American background so to speak.

Charlie and Olive are 1/2 Korean, 1/4 Japanese, and 1/4 German-Irish. I think it will be somewhat easy to preserve parts of their Korean identity because I'm fluent in Korean, and mostly eat Korean food (I think food has a big influence on identifying with a particular culture). Since Mr. Bee is "mixed" as well (he hates that word but I don't have anything better to use), he can better understand the challenges of growing up biracial than I can. But I wonder how much they'll identify with each aspect of their ethnic makeup.

Does your child have a mixed background too? What will you to to preserve those backgrounds?
