@regberadaisy: I bought some on Sunday and so far so good. But his wrists are still rashly but I'm thinking it must be from hand washing at school and the increasingly cold temps in the past few days. Poor little guy keeps saying itchy and points to his wrists.

My vanicream came today and I'm hoping it helps because DD2's skin gets progressively worse. :/

@regberadaisy: I know, it stinks. I try to look at the positive. It cuts down on our bedtime routine time. My little guy usually gets patches around his wrists and since it's gotten incredibly colder in the past few days his wrists and his hands are so red from the cold and hand washing. Ugh!

@mamag: thanks. I'm all about store brand for cheaper if it's the same thing.

@Canoli: It's the intense repair one. And honestly, I use the store brand of it, so much cheaper and it's the same thing. Same for the Dove body wash. I think I got them both in the WalMart brand.

@Canoli: yeah, since I posted the 16m old's skin has gotten more rashy. I think for the winter I just need to skip a bath every other night. Giving her a good wipe down will just have to do. :/

@MamaG: which eucerin do you use? I see they have intense repair, smoothing repair, and professional repair that have alpha hydroxy. I want to try this on my LO.

@regberadaisy: I know! That's why I hesitated so long because I wanted to get all the germs off and liked having it in our nighttime routine to signal to settle down but it was getting so bad I had to try something else. Plus we can't get into a dermatologist until February.

@regberadaisy: Yes, when I'm consistent I see a difference. Consistency is hard for me :(

AHA helps with sloughing off the old skin. Essentially with keratosis pilaris, the skin doesn't shed efficiently and it clogs the pores. I know that's oversimplification.

We went to a dermatologist at the recommendation of our pediatrician. We had always treated her as having excema and everything suggested wasn't making a difference. And she wasn't itchy. I'm just glad our pediatric dermatologist was realistic and wasn't pushing treatment on us.

LO1 has had eczema from time to time, and a weird outbreak of hives last year. he has a red bumpy patch under one eye that has been there for months and months. it doesn't seem to bother him, but i'm going to ask about it at his 3 year appointment.

Yes! My 8 month old has what looks like ringworm covering her back and legs about 70% of the time. If I keep her super moisturized it's okay but if not it gets bad looking (never seems to bother her and the doc says it's not ringworm, just eczema). She doesn't mind it but it makes me feel so bad for her.

@MamaG: interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Can I ask why you took her to a derm? We use dove original with both girls. What's the difference between original and sensitive? We're on our last bar anyway and need to get more.

What does the alpha hydroxy acid do and have you noticed a difference?

Our older has the bumps on her arms/legs and sideburns. We saw a dermatologist for it and got a diagnosis for keratosis pilaris. We treat over the counter for it. The dermatologist told us we could do prescription creams, but that as soon as we stop the creams it will be back. She said to let it be until she's bothered by it or hope she outgrows.

The derm recommended dove sensitive skin soap and Eucerin cream with alpha hydroxy acid. She indicated the alpha hydroxy acid is key.

@Canoli: yeah we use CeraVe cream too when I noticed dd2 had sensitive skin. Dd1 never did until recently. And yes DD2 gets bad diaper rashes often and quick!! They're both in daycare FT and it's hard for me to mentally skip baths during the week.

My kiddos have sensitive skin too. My youngest does have eczema and what seems to help best other than prescription hydrocortisone is Cerave moisturizing cream and less frequent baths. Both of them get bad diaper rashes quick. Poor kiddos inherited mama's sensitive skin.

@regberadaisy: yep. Ours are all round in nature too. His doc says eczema. Just a stubborn patch. If I am diligent with the cortisone it will fade almost completely away. But if I slack with lotion (sometimes I forget !) or if he is in water a lot (summer!) it comes right back. :(

My 4.5 month old has sensitive, rashy skin. And so do I, so I know where it comes from. Sadly, I don't think there's much to be done about it. No advice, just commiseration.

Yep. Ds has a patch on his foot and a patch on his knee that WILL NOT CLEAR. Seriously they have been there for a year plus. They improve when I keep them moisturized but the older he gets the harder that is. We do short baths with either goats milk soap or dove sensitive soap then a HEAVY moisturizer. Sometimes if it is prticularly bad I put cortisone cream on it

Both my girls have very mild rashy skin. Their ped thinks it's mild eczema. It's not anything extreme where we have to use medication. The older one has tiny bumps on the back of her arms. It's been this way for probably over a year? It's kinda just there.

The younger one has random red bumps over her body that comes and goes. I haven't really noticed a correlation to any specific food group. It doesn't seem to bother her or itch. Sometimes when there's a bad breakout I'll put some Lotrimin on it.

Anyone else's little have just chronic rashy skin that's not extreme enough to cause them discomfort?
Wondering if there's anything I can do to get rid of it.
