We usually make pancakes on Saturday morning and mini muffins for her to have throughout the week on Sunday mornings. She helps me measure ingredients into the bowl, mixes and puts muffin batter into the tins. She doesn't often help with meal prep, but the other day I was chopping potatoes so I could boil and mash them, and after I cut them I let her put all the pieces into the pot of water. She LOVED it so I might have to figure out what else she can do. She's just over 2 so I'm not comfortable giving her sharp tools or letting her be near the stove yet, but I'll probably start teaching her to cut soft things with duller knives in the next few months in preparation for it. We made some cookies last week and she was SO excited. She got mad when we had to start scooping them out of the bowl and onto the baking pan. She's got her own whisk and knife. Homemade pizza night is one of her favorites. She helps make and roll out the dough. We give her dough to make her own little pizza. She loves helping to wash veggies, cut them, mix things etc. I don't let her near the stove though. @Mamaof2: yes! It's amazing how they get so much enjoyment out of cracking a egg. My mom bought us matching aprons with our names on them (Evan and Mom) for Christmas, and as soon as I say I'm going to make dinner he runs and grabs them. He especially loves baking...we try to bake something on the weekends...usually cookies or banana bread.
