No, but they do hold an afternoon "conference" type thing in the Spring with local and other charters and private Kindergartens/schools. The principals will come in and do presentations about Kingergarten readiness and enrollment...

We are still undecided on if we'll be doing free public K or private..

Can't believe I am thinking of K! DD just turned 2! Ahh time flies.

We are at an in home, so preschool will be an in addition expense (our daycare provider will take her and pick her up to the one closest to her house.) We plan on doing this and then doing the public preschool one year before kindergarten and public school from K on. It's free and I want her in the same environment.

when I was a kid, I went to a catholic school that was 2 years through 1st grade.

My LO's daycare is only until pre-k.

The pre-school I attended when I was young had its own kindergarten. I stayed there for kindergarten and then went to public school for 1st grade.

LO's current school goes through age 6 (Montessori). We have a lot more research to do before deciding what kind of school she'll be attending (the public schools in this area have mixed opinions).

My feeling now is that I want to get her into the public school setting in kindergarten so she can get used to it. But I'll be sad to take her out of the Montessori program because I do like it and believe in the methods. There don't seem to be any Montessori schools that go passed age six near us. There are some closer to the major city we live near, but it would be too far for daily school.

What did you do? Keep them at the same school as long as possible or send them to a new school once they were kindergarten age?
