They have an on-site "chef" and prepare all meals and snacks and focus a lot on using local, organic ingredients and produce. The classes each also have a garden where they grow tomatoes and stuff for learning and snacks. And it was crappy stuff. The one we will almost certainly go with, it provides snacks (mostly fruits and veggies) but you're welcome to provide your own. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. I send him some fruit every day for his afternoon snack though, most of the parents send snacks. He started there at 12 months and the first few months I sent lunch of foods he'd eat. Once they were confident he would eat the provided lunch they told me to stop sending food. For the older kids you bring in snacks monthly or so and they feed them so they don't get brought everyday. In CA I think that daycare centers are not allowed to provide hot food. They can do snacks but no cooking, so most that I have seen and heard about do not provide lunch but do provide some snacks.
