Yes, but it's not a traditional daycare. Like yours, it's a preschool. Their hours are also 9-3 with after & before care options that offer 7:15-5 at the most. They close all. the. time. but they are more affordable than a center, with lower ratios, and we love them so we make it work. I have a very flexible job which helps.

Our daycare usually aligns with our work holiday schedule, besides the occasional day where one of us will take off. She does take off X-mas eve - New Years Day, and luckily for us MIL is off of work during those weeks as well so she comes in and stays with her and keeps her overnight if we want her too/weather is bad.

DCP is open for the most part - they have 2 teacher work days a year - one on Good Friday and one the Friday before Labor Day.

They do close a long time at Christmas
24 is 1/2 day and they wont reopen until Jan 5th.

I will work from home those days

@mauxie: Ours did professional development/training on Veterans Day as well. DH had the day off, so that worked out fine for us.

They rarely close - really it's only the major holidays and then only the day of (Thanksgiving day, Christmas day, New Years Day, etc.). They also do their professional development 2-3 times a year, but it's always on a usually-recognized holiday like Veterans Day, Columbus Day, etc. I don't get those days off work but since DH teaches at a public university, they get all the holidays our daycare would be closed off.

If both of us have to work and her school is closed, we look at our schedules and see if one of us can cover, or if we will do half days each, or otherwise divide up the day. Worst case, we luckily have multiple grandparents in the area.

Our daycare closes at the drop of a hat. They are closed for all holidays and they have 4 week long recesses per year. It drives me nuts because they are already so expensive.

Our daycare closures usually align with our work holidays, thankfully!

They just did prof development for the teachers on Veterans day and I had the day off from work (DH didn't).

DH would be fine with 1 kid to himself but probably not both, lol.

Ours closes for certain holidays, but is open the majority of the time, which is one of the reasons we chose it!

When Xander was under one, I usually stayed home with him because I wanted to be able to nurse him instead of having to pump at work. But now Hubs usually stays home with him because he can do some work from home and tends to have a little more flexibility with his time off.

We moved LO from a traditional daycare (open pretty much daily no matter what except for a few major holidays) to a Montessori school which follows a more school-like calendar.

One day the school is entirely closed for teacher conferences. I guess parents just take the day off on days like that. I manage an office, so it is really important that I be present daily, but luckily DH has a lot of PTO and can work from home and/or take a day off when necessary. I'm glad he is able to do that!

Her school is also closed on New Year's Eve, but we both have to work that day. She is spending the week with her grandparents out of town, so that resolves that one. Phew!

What do you guys do when school is closed and you both have to work?
