Not at all.

He, his dad, and his grandfather all share the same first name
His brother and his dad share the same middle name.

He wants no one to share any more names :)

No...he's got a unisex name and it slightly bitter about it. He wouldn't mind using his name as a middle name, though, but only for a boy...even though it's a coed name. I think it would be cute as a middle name for a girl, but I think that's a sore spot, lol

No, but it was important for him to pass on his middle name, Evans...it's his dad's middle name, and was his paternal grandmother's maiden name. We chose to modify and use it as a first names, though (Evan). If we hadn't used it a first name we still would have used it as a middle name, for a boy or girl.

DH is a Jr himself... and has no wish to continue the tradition! His family still all call him 'junior' anyway so it would just be too confusing!

Anyway, what's the 'rule' on "Jr, Jr" - does the LO become 'firstname lastname, II' instead of Jr at that point?!

No, my DH has a very nice name but I'm glad because I think kids deserve their own name/identity. My uncle did this with his son and it only lasted about 3 days before it got too confusing and they decided to have him go by his middle name instead. And I'm sure that'll be confusing to people his entire life. I also particularly don't care for when the son is literally called "Junior".

Nope. My husband thinks the tradition is very odd - like it demonstrates a weird, self-interested desire for a "mini-me" or something. It's not a thing in my family, either, so I've never given it much thought.

I have always loved the idea of having a Jr.! But being Korean-American I knew the chances of myself marrying someone with a Korean first name were high, and I wanted something classic and American for my kids. So when I married a Robert I always held it in the back of my mind that maybe someday we'd have a Junior. But Wagon Sr. mentioned once while we were dating that he didn't like the sound of his first and last name together. Fast forward to getting pregnant with our first, after having a TOUGH time with names I mentioned the idea of naming the baby after him and he was very shyly thrilled! He had to get over the idea that it was egotistical to name his son after himself and we both love that he's a Jr.

I love traditions, especially when it comes to family things like that. So WJ's first name is his dad's and his middle name is his Korean name, which follows the naming convention of his father's line. Every generation there is a syllable that needs to be included. The other syllable that DOESN'T depend on the naming convention, LMW's Korean name shares that syllable with WJ.

LMW's name is also a name I dreamed of since I was younger so I just looooove both my kids' names... hence my blog's name! and my IG name :)
