@bluestripedbee That webcam is awesome!

@char54: Our dog LOVES the kennel. We had sent her for a short stay before but recently left her for 8 days when we went to London. Not gonna lie, I cried at the drop off like a crazy lady. She totally didn't notice because she was already in the back having fun. I did have my aunt call to check on her (again, crazy lady) and she did really well. They also sent her home with a progress report for each day she was there so we could see how she was feeling/what she was doing. She absolutely loved it. He will be fine and have a blast!!

@meredithNYC: lol!!! They are such clowns! DH and I literally just laugh at him all day.

I've found since he turned 3 he has really calmed down and got lazy. He still loves going for walks but can't go nearly as far. He sleeps an embarrassing amount of te day, lol.

@char54: He's such a handsome devil! And I'm jealous that he will still go for a walk. Since we moved to the suburbs ours has decided she doesn't care for going on walks and so she just lies in the front yard under a bush, watching the action of the neighborhood.

@bluestriped bee: that is so neat that you can watch her on webcam! I wish we had that option - though I'd probably spend our whole trip watching him, lol!

Anyway from the photos above, I can see her enjoying herself. Well, except for the last day.

By the way, we boarded her for 10 long days.

Then the next few photos are her being 'harrassed' by the male golden retriever. This dog kept following her. I think the golden had a crush on her and wanted to get her number. ;) lol!

Then the last photo is her exhausted and ready to go home.

My dog is really shy so it took a few days to open up.

The place I take her has a webcam that I can watch her on. I seriously could watch her for hours.

Here are some screenshots I took.

The first few photos are her being anti-social.

The next photo is her getting some love from the staff.

Thank you everyone! That does make me feel better. He loves to play with other dogs but then will sleep 20 hours a day so I'm thinking he will be fine. I might stay in the car while DH drops him off so he doesn't sense my nervousness!

@meredithNYC: you're right - just being a bulldog gets him a lot of extra love from others! The lady who runs the place is a Vet Tech and has always wanted a bulldog. She is so excited he is coming to stay so I'm hoping he gets a little extra TLC :-)

Here's my happy (but tired) boy today on a walk!

When we need to board our 2 year old retriever mix, we take him to the same place he goes for doggy daycare. He only goes to daycare once every week or two, but he lives it. He runs around like crazy all day, so he doesn't mind it at all when it's time for bed. He will be fine.

Well, you know I have a 3 year old bulldog, too, so I know the breed well. It may be because we lived in the city at the time and Phyllis was exposed to so many people even just on her daily walks, but she LOVED the dog daycare/kennel we would occasionally send her to. We boarded her for a week once and when we got back she didn't want to come home with us :(

I definitely get how you're feeling, though, since when I dropped her off I was crying so hard that I couldn't speak. Yep, crazy dog person over here.

If your place is anything like ours, they will love having a bulldog around and he will get extra special attention. I don't know what it is, but a lot of people really go crazy for bulldogs!

We have never boarded out dog, but if we had a kennel like that we totally would if we needed to. We don't really have anything that has much outside time or much space, and my dog would not do well with that. Plus I'm like you, an emotional wreck about my dog being lonely or whatever, so we just haven't. I think your place sound super great though!

Bea loves to go to the Kennel. They love her there, and she is always happy and walks in willingly, tail wagging. We send toys and a blanket that smells like us. Your dog will have a good time, I'm sure.

My dog only stayed in a kennel once, and I hate to say it but he didn't really like. It was a nice enough place, though yours sounds better! I think he got nervous with so much barking. My sister picked him up (we boarded him for my wedding) and said he was freaked out, but she overreacts too!

All that said-- and I hope I don't add to your worries-- he was FINE. Maybe it wasn't his favorite weekend ever, but he's seriously fine. I think next time if we couldn't find a friend to watch him, I'd get a petsitter to come and walk him three times a day instead, even though he'd be alone at night. But he's an old lazy guy, what can I say (my dog, not the pet sitter!)

I'm sure your guy will be fine and have a good time. They will take good care of him. Just try not to be anxious when you drop him off because he will sense it, which is probably what my sister did.

My dog loves the kennel so much. The people there are so nice and he really likes them. When we pull on the street he perks up and gets so excited. It makes it easier to leave him there. I bet your dog will have a good time.

We have the most loveable 3 year old English Bulldog. This weekend, for the first time, we will have to put him in the kennel for 2 nights. We usually have family or friends watch him but it's a long weekend here in Canada and everyone is booked up.

I am just heart sick over sending him there. He is so easy going and I know he will be fine, but I think of him all alone at night and it makes me start crying (thank you pregnancy hormones!) I'm not usually this upset over stuff like this - it was my idea in the first place rather than canceling our trip - but I've been so emotional tonight about it.

The place he is going to is really nice and highly recommended - heated floors,AC, individual indoor/outdoor runs ... lots of my friends send their dogs there and the pups love it. They get lots of attention, walks and snuggles but the thought of him being in a cage for the majority of the day is just so sad to me.

I keep telling myself it's just 2 nights, he will be fine, and that I'm just crazy. Have you sent your dog to a boarding kennel? Were they okay? Did they seem sad?
