My dad did say it, especially when I was little, as I got older he said it less & less but still did said it. He BUILT the old school, so I feel very blessed that he is as vocal as he is about it. When he says things like, "Take care" I know that means "I love you". My husband says it everyday, many times a day, to our daughter.

ALL THE TIME. My dad's father (passed away when he was young) never showed affection (stereotypical Korean dad), so he said that made him shower my brother and I with kisses, hugs, and I love you. To tell you the truth, I'm 28, grown, married, and my dad still says I love you every time I call him, when he leaves our house after a dinner, and him and my mom both still pat me on the butt as if I were a kid. I love it :)

My dad says it to me at the end of every phone conversation or when we leave after we've come to visit. He also says it on important occasions. I grew up with both of my parents telling me they loved me every night. My husband's dad didn't say it much at all. I remember my husband getting a card a few years ago where his father said it and it was a super big deal to everyone.

My dad says it when I need to hear it. When my grandpa died, my wedding day, when we told him I'm pregnant, leaving for trips, etc. He's never been one to say it every day but I actually kind of like that way. I know without a doubt that my dad loves me even without the words. When he does say it, I know it's important and from the heart and nor just a routine thing he says out of habit.

ALL the time. In fact, he's shortened it to "more" a lot of the time, as in "I love you MORE!" I still call him Daddy, too, and he calls me Naisymedaisy. (We're super-loving and super-silly.) I'm very lucky to have such good parents.

My dad wasn't around much, but I don't remember a time when he didn't say I love you. DH's dad on the other hand, I don't think he was loose with the ILY's, but he DID say it. I'm sure DH will say it to baby all the time, he's a pretty mushy and corny guy, and doesn't care what people think of that.

I voted for only when I was older. He probably said it when I was really little, but he left when I was around 4 or 5 and didn't come back into my life until my mid-20s.

He says it every time we speak now, guess he's trying to make up for lost time :)

My dad has always said it. My mom rarely said it while I was growing up that I can remember. She started more when we were older and after she had 2 heart attacks.
It was actually weird to say it out loud to her the first time.
My DH says it to me multiple times a day and we tell our girls we love them at least once a day. We do it before bed with them religiously. I am the one that takes DD's to school and I tell both of them I love them and to have a good day every morning.

My dad (and mom) always said "goodnight i love you" before we went to bed. Now it's "bye i love you" when we hang up the phone/leave from visiting each other

It's really important to me that the last thing I say to my loved ones before we leave each other is "I love you" - DH and I have passed that on now with each other (and even with our dog - not that he says it back! haha)

I can't remember if he ever said it without someone saying it first, He was a bit too military. I started finding him before I went to bed to give him a kiss and say I love you, not because I needed it but because I felt like he needed it and couldn't ask, so we did end up saying I love you everyday but only because I would find him before I went to sleep to tell him. He says it on his own now, he's actually turned into a sap now.
