Yes. Well, sort of. Some days I don't think about it but if I am very close to my goal, it motivates me to get more steps.

So we had a Fitbit Christmas and the whole family got them. It's super motivating but even more so if you are "competing" with others. There's a lot of marching, running, dancing in the house to get steps up. Also people are willing to go on errands, park far away just to up the steps. I have the flex 2. It's lightweight. My husband hates watches but loves his Fitbit.

It did before I got pregnant... it might once I get through the first tri. I find the competition is very motivating my DH has one and we got one for my mom... we all do challenges and that motivates us to walk more for sure!

Yes I love it. I'm very numbers/stats driven. I easily walk 2x as much now than I did before.

Absolutely. I have walked laps around the house to meet a goal. One time I managed to get 85 flights of stairs in a day and then went up and down my stairs 15 more times that night so I could hit the 100 mark :)

But on a day-to-day basis it mostly motivates me because I "get credit" for stuff. Like, I'll choose to take a walk to the pharmacy (5 min each way) instead of just stopping by in the car after work. And then when I set fitness goals it helps to keep me accountable easily.

I have the One and like @erinbaderin I clip it to my bra so its very discreet.

ETA: I've also had mine for 4 years, and I love being able to look back on the data at different points in my life and see how active or inactive I was. It helps me see what a big difference there is when I choose to focus on being active.

@erinbaderin: And I thought I was the only person walking laps in my house! At least we have an open floor plan so I can walk a loop through the kitchen, dining room, and living room :)

I think it helps to find out what device your friends use.

I had a jawbone because my sister and cousin had one and it was fun to compete with them. My sister stopped wearing hers and my cousin switched to FitBit...and it wasn't as motivating anymore.

My jawbone broke and DH got me the fitbit Flex 2 for Christmas, and it's fun again. It shows me how completely lazy I can tend to be, and it's downright embarrassing! In order to not look like a total slob, I do find myself getting up more often and walking around. And I'll do laps at the end of the day if I'm close to a goal or close to climbing the ranks among friends, etc.

@Mamaof2: I have the Flex 2. I used to have the One (the clip-on one) which I clipped between the cups of my bra during my first pregnancy, and it was great but when I'm not pregnant my boobs aren't big enough to disguise it. I also bought the Alta but found it too bulky. The Flex 2 is pretty basic but pretty streamlined.

Sort of. I received a fitness tracker as a gift (not something I ever wanted). I've been wearing it most days for the last 3 months. It's kind of fun and rewarding to see the progress, but I could totally live without it too. But since it was a gift, I feel obligated to use it.

Yes. To the point that every night I run laps around my coffee table to get up to my step count. It's a bit ridiculous.
