Mine definitely motivates me! I love getting credit and setting goals. And I will definitely walk laps around the house if I notice I'm close to 10,000 steps or some other milestone :) ETA: I've had mine for 4 years and I don't think my love for it has waned

@yin: @erinbaderin: I've had the clip-on "one" for years and was gifted the Alta for Christmas. Even though they're so pretty and I like the new features I returned it because such a big portion of my walking is with a stroller!

@yin: This makes me crazy! I get so mad at myself when I forget to put it in my pocket instead of on my wrist before I go grocery shopping.

@Mamaof2: It irritates me too! Like i'll do a crazy 60 minute meta-conditioning class and it'll say i only worked out for 20 minutes.

Overall it does motivate me, especially since i work at home at a desk. I have 1 friend who is a SAHM and another with a treadmill desk so the challenges help me get going. I don't need as much motivation on the weekends.

I didn't find it accurate for me because I don't swing my arms enough when I walk. If I'm pushing the shopping cart or stroller, my steps don't count. I got discouraged and quit. I do like the sleep function, but I hated wearing it to bed. If I ever get back to regularly running, I'll wear it to track my run and progress.

Not really. I have a Speedo Shine something or other. I mainly wear it since it times my swimming workouts. I don't really look at my progress throughout the day, but it's kind of fun to see it light up when I check how I did at the end of the day.

ETA: I got it as a gift and never even thought about buying one for myself.

Not mine. When I see other people wearing theirs I am motivated to put mine on and get moving.

It was fun for a while, but I am a SAHM. It's a no brainer that I hit 10,000+ steps a day so I don't use it anymore. I didn't use the sleep function.

I thought it would but it doesn't.

DH won a flex 2, no HRM - I will workout for 30 mins and it says I did 17 which irritates me - I haven worn it in a few days.

Now it does motivate my 8yr old - he ran around like crazy one day and got 11,500 steps! He was very proud of himself

Yes. I love it. It helps me walk at least 3.25 miles a day which I would not know how to track easily otherwise.

I like seeing the information that it provides but I'm not going to go walk 1000 steps if I've done 9000 in one day, just to hit 10k. So, I don't think it motivates me.

Yes! I just set the hourly reminders up and having it buzz makes me get up and go for a walk around the office. I also run in place while I'm brushing my teeth now for extra steps.

Not really, but I'm pregnant. I do love when my fitbit alarm signals that I've done 10,000 steps though :)

I just got a Fitbit last week and so far it has really motivated me to get moving, I'm sure that will change the longer I have it though...but thinking optimistically, I hope not!

Do you find your Fitbit (or similar) motivates you? Or do you find your fitness habits haven't changed much either way since owning one?
