Every time there was a thunder storm or something that would reset the power, the house alarm would go off - usually at 3 am.... Not amused. I live in a nice neighborhood but my next door neighbor was burglarized during the day last year. I was actually at home on mat leave at the time and heard a noise, but I thought the neighbors were just rolling out their trash can. They come in the form of two cute fluffy dogs... seriously. We actually disabled the alarm system that came with the house. Didn't want it and since somebody is always home, we don't really need it. Plus, working in Law Enforcement I can tell you, they hardly work like you think they will. We are basically on the 3rd floor of a building with pretty good security now so I'm not worried at all (though our neighbor does have an ADT sticker on his door). Or old apartment had an entrance right to the sidewalk but I never really worried about it, and never had a problem. And we can control it all from our phones - including heat/air, turn on lamps, lock our doors , AND they gave us a camera that we can watch on our phones.
