My daughter always says "thank you" or "thanks" and "no thank you", but please has been harder. I think she just didn't understand it for awhile. If she asks for something, she rarely says please, but if you ask HER if she wants something, she'll say "yes, please" or "no, thank you."

My toddler is very good at "please" and "thank you", but "sorry" after she did something pretty bad (e.g. hitting) didn't always come so easy! stubborn little girl... we had many time outs til she said sorry, but she soon learned and says it pretty quickly now after an offense.

her infant daycare was big on saying "no thank you" instead of "no"... So in our house "no thank you" and "no thanks" are common too. they sound so much nicer than just "no".

ETA: oh and for a while if she forgot to say please, I'd always prompt her with... "What's the magic word?" and she'd always say, "Abracadabra!" instead of "please"... haha

They both say please and thank you, although the little ones usually needs more prompting, which is frustrating because he knows those are the rules. They both say sorry though. almost too much!

Ahhh...I love manners! My son is really good with please and thank you, excuse me and sorry, he's better than I am (opps). But when he doesn't want to do something (like take a nap) he'll say no thank you, it's really hard to keep a straight face!

My daughter is good about saying please. Her thank you phase came and went so I am working on bring it back!

Yesterday morning she woke up early and asked to watch TV before going to day care. I asked "TV? Who says you can watch TV?" She gave me the sweetest look and said "Pleeeeeeeease?" How could I resist?

I don't think she gets the word sorry yet but I can tell by the look on her face she knows when she is being naughty!

Mrs. Bee's post today reminded me of how Charlie learned to say "please" and "thank you" for everything from his nanny. Bee and I never would have come up with that one on our own.

That's been one of the greatest gifts ever, because a polite boy makes parenting so much more bearable! Especially in the beginning when he couldn't pronounce please so it came out as, "pwease". How can you say no to a cute little boy saying, "pweaaaaaase?" Over time we had to learn though, because he quickly learned how effective politeness can be at getting your way!

Does your little one say "please" and "thank you"? How about "sorry" when they do something naughty?
