People often comment on it. I think it's because she took care of other children when we were young and it was less confusing to the other kids when we called her by her name as well. I wonder how I will feel when my future LO calls me by my name. DH and I joke that our LO will call my mother by her name instead of grandma. My son's friends can call me by my first name, but he's not allowed to. It's totally arbitrary but I'm "Dad" in this household. Even when he's an adult, I'd like to still be Dad.
