Bad dreams, thunder, etc will bring my oldest into our bed. She's a great cuddler so I don't mind too much. The baby sometimes just wants closeness so maybe once every two weeks she'll wake up and not go back down easily and then just pass out next to me. It would be great but I'm pregnant and find on days we cosleep that my body is more sore. Nope. Not that we've tried lately! Otherwise he just eventually asks to go back to his bed. Didn't go well- she kept turning perpendicular to us and kicking DH and head butting me, plus she took my pillow (7 months pregnant, I need all the pillows). She slept fine but I ended up leaving and sleeping in her room. That said she has a queen bed in her room and lately, at least a few times a week she wakes up in the middle of the night and DH or I go in and sleep in that bed with her (she's still in a crib before that). She just has a hard time sleeping in our room. I actually hate cosleeping so I only do it if we're having a regression or something and I'm about to fall over from exhaustion. DD1 hasn't slept in our he'd since we moved her to her own room around 9 months and I expect the same will be true of DD2 when we stop room sharing with her. Turns out he had an ear infection and HFM. He would only sleep on top of me or DH and I cannot sleep that way! When he was a baby (like under 6 months probably) he would fall asleep in our bed if he woke for an early nurse session. It just ends up both babies trying to nurse while laying on top of me, with my dog pinning down my feet, and DH squished into a tiny fraction of the bed going "how can I help? How can I help??" (In case you're wondering the answer to that is "start lactating honey!" but I'm not holding my breath...) He was really good at it until about a year old, and then molars started cutting and he wound up in our bed for a month more often than not. This week his 2nd year molars are coming in and he's in our bed again every few nights. Sometimes she has nightmares and the only way to get her back to sleep is to let her come to bed with us. We don't mind. We have a king size bed so we don't even notice her in there unless she's having a really tough night and needs to sleep on top of one of us. ETA: the only time in her life that she has actually been allowed to start the night in our bed was 4th of July this year because she was terrified of the fireworks and half our neighborhood was setting them off. Tonight I told my 3 year old she could sleep in our bed but just for a little while until I move her and only for tonight as a special treat. She's pretty good about understanding that type of thing so hoping it doesn't cause issues on other nights. I remember I would sleep in my mom and dads bed now and then just until they went to bed and thought it was so cool. If you don't co-sleep does your LO ever sleep in your bed?
