I'd absolutely correct it, every time I see it and I would ask the teaching staff to as well. It doesn't take a long time for things to form into a habit, but it takes longer to undo that kind of stuff IMO.

@mediagirl: hm. I'd probably just monitor if for a while. If she was able to pronounce the words correctly before she may just be going through an experimental phase?

@MrsSRS: thank you. We are trying. My husband and I both try to keep it light when she does it. For the most part we have been pretending we can't understand her when she does it so she has to repeat herself and when she repeats herself, she doesn't do it. I may try your suggestion. :)

@.twist.: I'm not sure. She will be talking and a word or two will get tangled in her tongue. I think I'm annoyed because I'm worried. :(

Try a cheerful redirect. Something like, "Nope, that's not how we say that. Your wiggly tongue was in your way! Say the word in a nice big girl voice, please." Try not to let her see it bugs you or she might do it more!

Is she just being silly?

Sometimes L will stick his tongue out and speak full sentences like that. I usually just laugh at him and poke him and tell him he's a goofball and to cut it out because I can't understand what he's saying.

Sometimes he'll stop and other times he'll laugh and continue.

For the most part, I just roll with it.

I think my daughter has picked up a bad habit from someone at her daycare. She speaks well (as well as any 3 year old) but she has started doing this thing where she will move her tongue around and it sometimes in the way when she is talking. It's really annoying and it's pissing me off because it just started out of the blue.. I don't know whether to ignore it or to correct her when she does it.

It comes out at random times and doesn't always happen with the same words. It also doesn't happen with words that you would think it may happen (like words with 'th'. That's another reason why it is making me mad, it makes no sense!

Has your lo ever done this? What did you do?
