Yep! Within age-groups kids visit other rooms a lot. His preschool has 4 classes & there are "sister rooms" that share a door, so those kids especially move from room to room (for before & aftercare or other reasons). He likes it and I do too. The kids get used to making some transitions and are part of a larger community than just their own room.

Yup. He is 3.5 and will sometimes go to another classroom to visit for, especially if he is having a hard time listening. It seems to get him out of his funk. They also combine classes in the morning and evenings. He loves all the teachers (6 total plus a couple floaters). There are 4 classrooms of three year olds and they all combine for outdoor time too.

Early bird and afterschool are combined so LO sees her friends that aren't in her class then.

Yep! LO visited a ton before he transitioned and still occasionally goes back to his old room for ratio reasons. They are sometimes combined with older kids in the afternoons too, which I think LO loves. A couple of the boys (1.5ish years older than LO) just adore him for whatever reason and they always want him to play with them. He talks about them sometimes. It's cute!

Yes - they combine rooms (within ratios) when the attendance is low or lower (mornings and evenings and holidays)...and when a child is about to move up a room they transition them by having them visit for a few weeks...(like for one activity a day or so)...

Yep, they combine at the beginning and end of the day. She is now obsessed with the babies and insists on visiting them on the way out. I think it's cool too when she's with the bigger kids because she's learning new things, although I do worry that she might get pushed around a bit since she's little and shy.

They move the kids around near the end of the day. L loves it and I like that he gets to know other teachers and kids. I feel like it makes transitioning rooms waaaaay easier.

They seem to move kids around to different rooms a lot at our daycare. Hate it.

Yes, but they combine the two groups a few times a week, especially at the end of the day. I like it because everyone knows my youngest LO and she knows them all too.

Yup, DD2 has been visiting the toddler room in preparation for moving up on Monday. 😫😭

The preschool and PreK room combines after about 4:45-5:00pm. DD1's teacher also takes her to visit her baby sister in the Infant II room daily.

A few of my lo's friends have recently moved up to the pre-k room and she misses them. She talks about them every evening and "talks" to them on the play phone. We stop by that room in the morning to say hello to one of her friends who is always there early and the teacher has offered to have her come into the room to play during center time. I think it's great. It gives her time to play with her friends who have moved up and gets her some time with older kids.
