That just happened to us for the first time last night with our 3-year-old! It was so frightening! I think it was night terror? He has woken up crying before but not like this. He had his arms up in the air and to the back screaming, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANT!!!!!" I think he just had a nightmare. Maybe all this talk about bugs is starting to get to him. He really doesn't like bugs but yet always wants to see them. I told my husband to stop showing him bugs around the house. I think he thinks that it'll help him get over them, but I don't think so. My poor baby. My husband had to go in and they flipped his bedding around looking for a "red ant" and even looked under his bed. He did go back to sleep shortly after that but it was rough.

My 6 month old has done the same thing for a while now. He never wakes up, just cries in his sleep then settles back down. Every once and a while he needs to be held for a minute to calm down. I just assume its night terrors.

Yes! She started screaming the day she turned 15 weeks old! But more when she was sleepy, not asleep. She never screamed before! I have to double check to see if her toenails or feet are caught each and every time! She's not hungry, she's not wet, she's sleepy, but she never screamed like this! My guess is she's teething. We're gonna try Orajel today.

Last night, M gave us a fright. I was downstairs doing bottles and I heard her start to cry on the monitor. I thought maybe she would get through it and fall back to sleep but then she started screeching like she was being tortured. It sounded like she had hurt herself. I have never moved so fast in my life. I got upstairs and my husband had picked her up but she was still screaming. He handed her to me and she calmed down and fell right back to sleep.

I have no idea what happened but I held her (for my own sake) for about a half hour and just rocked with her in the nursery. She scared us so badly!!!

Has this every happened to your lo? What in the world causes it?
