It's great for everyone! My parents are too far away for that, but when they are visiting they take him out to play. (He's now 2.5.) They take him overnight once every month or two.</p> <p>There is a long list of reasons why I would not trust my MIL to watch my son. Luckily some of those reasons are objective physical limitations so I have avoided addressing her utter lack of judgement not to mention risk of unwelcome religious indoctrination. ILs live 2 hours away and has spent a lot less time with him, and never without us there. Visits are usually 1-2x per month and only for a few hours each time. I don't expect that will change any time soon. And my mom is in town at least once a month as well and will spend a good chunk of time with lo--sometimes with me too, sometimes not, so maybe every other month she'll babysit? (my parents have a strange situation where they sort of half live in our city...) They do special art or baking projects and she has a special park that she only likes to go to with my dad ("The Papa Park"). They almost never nap at the same times when they are at her house so she gets to spend a lot of good quality time with them together and a part. My entire house adores her! They love it, of course! But she is really busy with work, and doesn't have as much time to just hang out.
