I blame DH--he comes home late & not always at the same time, so I try to keep DD up/happy long enough to see him, but definitely follow her cues if she's tired. DD is in her crib between 7-7:20 and is usually out within 5 minutes. Naps are also pretty strict, between 12:30-1 for her to go down and up by 3/3:10 at the latest. If the oldest doesn't nap, she is in bed by 7. If she does nap, she's asleep by 8. The youngest is always in bed by 7:30. It has really helped us all feel well rested to keep with the routine as much as possible. We walk in the door after preschool and he says "we're going to sleep now". When dinner is over he says "bath time and then I go to sleep". I love it. That's because she has school and I don't want her all cranky in the morning if she doesn't get enough sleep. On weekends I am much more lenient...she probably sleeps closer to 9. Occasionally he'll get to stay up late for a special occasion, but it doesn't result in sleeping in, so that's not typically fun for anyone! They have been going to bed between 7:30 (for my youngest) and 9:00pm. Last night it was 8:50pm, the night before it was 8:00pm. I'm not super strict as in I want them down at 8:00pm on the dot, but I think at least within 15-20 minutes is what I should aim for. Does your LO go down at the same exact time every night? How lenient are you with it?
