@sunshineandsushi: they are so cute!!

DS hated tummy time. He would rub his face into the ground violently and cry. Once he learned to roll he learned he could scoot/crawl and then was an early crawler and walker.

A is 3 1/2 months and hates tummy time some days. Other days she tolerates it. We have a step down livingroom and sometimes put her on the top with toys on the step in front of her to play with. It's worked a few times. I want to get a mirror to put in front of her to see if that helps.

Mine did too but she loves moving, shaking, balancing etc. now. maybe it reveals more about temperment (ours was feisty) than potential athleticism. P.s. I encouraged her tummy time with laptop peeks at youtube videos (educational ones of course) at optimal eye level.

She used to hate tummy time, but now loves it! As soon as we put her on her back she rolls on her tummy to play, and gets pissed when we try to roll her back lol. But the girl seriously hated it the first 10 weeks or so....

@ladyfingers: I prop their chest and arms on the boppy and their body is resting in the hole part, if that makes sense. I have to keep a close eye on them when they're laying on it because they tend to squirm and then they're too low into the hole. Here's a pic ...

@sunshineandsushi: so I've been confused about this boppy thing. Do you lay them lengthwise so their whole body's in the boppy? Or do you prop them up so their chest is up on it?

Haha yep that's how our tummy time started as well. Give it time! In the beginning I had to time it so LO was in a really, really good mood before we did tummy time or she was NOT having it.

Nowadays, she'll hang out there a lot longer, but she can push up on her elbows and practice rolling over so it is a little more fun for her.

The snot and drool continues, however....

At 3 months both my boys are not fans. The only way I can get then to last more than 2 minutes without crying is to use the Boppys for tummy time. They don't seem to mind that as much and will go as long as 20 minutes that way It doesn't help as much for getting them to try to roll over, but at least they're practicing head control and getting off the back of their head!

Mine HATED it until 4 months or so...and trust me, he's had no problem with muscle development.

I got down on the floor in front of him and talked to him, sang to him or moved a toy back and forth and up and down. I'd usually only do it for maybe 5 minutes at a time every hour or so, and sometimes I'd lay him on my chest.

She hated it, like screaming and crying the first couple of times. I don't do it for too long, maybe a minute or two each day. Now she just kinda makes some "uh uh" noises.

LO hated it at first so we did most of it on my chest with my boobs out as an incentive. Yes I bribe my baby with boobies. Now at three months she can tolerate it for a lot longer and is pretty decent at rolling over.

A hated it too but all of a sudden, about a month ago (she's 5 months) she started to love it. Now she thinks it's hilarious, she turns round, lunges for things, tries to crawl... When his neck gets stronger and he starts getting used to the baby press up thing, he'll probably love it too.

same as @hilsy85, my LO didn't like until a few weeks ago. its all about the neck control...just keep doing it, and he'll get there! its ok if you pick him up after he starts crying, we never forced my LO to do it if she was upset.

My LO was exactly the same. He only rolls over now at 5.5 months so that he won't be on his tummy. His strength seems fine. I modify tummy time to be on my chest, which he tolerates better.

My LO hated tummy time too. We'd do it as much as we could, but it was never for long spurts because she disliked it that much. As she got older she did much better with it.

Whenever we do tummy time, he lays there at first trying to shove his fist in his mouth or mouth the blanket. Then he sorta lifts up a few times, finally face planting and screaming until we pick him up, drooling and snotty. He's 8 weeks. He's holding his head up better than he used to while being held upright by us, but he still bobbles. But he still only lasts a couple minutes at the most on his tummy!

Who else? Is this going to stunt his muscular development??
