<p>Ellie got a Leap Pad 2 for Christmas last year. She likes it because she now has a "device" like mom and dad and many of her friends-- we like it because she is able to practice useful educational skills (math, reading, etc.) in a low-pressure and fun way that keeps her motivated. I don't prefer how proprietary it is, though. We had contemplated getting her a Leap Pad Ultra, but decided against it because there are a few apps that we use in relation to her ADHD/ODD and PDD-NOS that we would not have been able to give her access to in that platform, since it all has to be Leap Frog stuff. Overall I like it, though, for what it is.

<p>We have the Tag Junior reader and the regular Tag reader. I think my kids were around 2 (or 3? I can't remember) when they figured out the Jr one and my DD started using the Tag reader more when she was 6.

<p>LO got a leap frog tag junior system for her first birthday. It was never something I even thought to get for her, but it's pretty cool. She only has a couple of books for it so far, but she can't really figure out how to use it yet anyway. Does your LO have any of the reading systems (even a brand other than leap frog?) what do you think of them and when could your LO start really understanding how to use it?
