My husband's grandmother is 100 years old, blind and ornery :) When she met my LO, she said, "I don't like that name."

So, yeah.

My mom's parents are both still alive and can't wait to meet their first great-grand! Sadly, they live in San Antonio while we're in the UK. Luckily, though, my two cousins are also pregnant and live in SA! They're due not long after me, so they can tide themselves over with those babies until we get to make a visit :)
My dad's mom is still alive, but honestly is pretty detached and cool. I mean, she'll be happy to see pics and stuff but...

My husband's whole family is pretty much dead, so our LO won't have much extended family in the country where we actually live.

my LOs will have 1 great-grandparent (if she's still around when the babies are born). but she's in korea. most likely might not meet the babies. we'll see. she's not in great health and i can't see myself going to korea anytime soon.

Yes! Our LO will actually have 12 great grandparents alive when she's born. She will also have 8 grandparents. Both DH and I are from divorced and remarried aka blended families so she has TONS of family!

There has only been 1 grandparent alive *my* entire life, and no great-grandparents – my grandma is now 90 and has Alzheimer’s (though, thankfully, it isn’t too bad yet and she still recognizes us). I hope she is still alive when LO gets here, but they won’t ever have a real close relationship as she is confined to a nursing home and very fragile.

My parents had kids at older ages (mid-late 30’s), and their parents were older parents too, and I’m 30…so that doesn’t lend to having too many generations all around at once.
On the other hand, my aunt had her daughters in her late teens, they had their kids in their very early 20’s, and my “little” cousin (who is in my LO’s generation) is having her first baby in 2 months….so, that LO will have great-grandparents who are still pretty young.

Kind of weird to think that this year my dad will become a grandpa for the first time and his sister will become a great-grandma.

There was only one grandma when *I* was born and she passed away almost 10 years ago. If my grandma was still with us, I'm not sure she would have even had a chance to meet LO because she was living in Korea.

@artbee s/he will. My family has babies young. My mom had me at 20 and her mom had her at 19 and her mom had her at 17 and so on. So it is common to have five generations alive for a few years.

All my grandparents are still alive. Sort of. My paternal grandpa has advanced Alzheimer's. He's... not himself. Most days, he wanders around like a zombie. Other days, he turns violent in the course of 10 seconds. He was having a VERY good day during my wedding, and he asked me if I'd been at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed... so he's not really here any more. My other grandma also has Alzheimer's (not NEARLY so bad), and the other grandpa has had 3 heart attacks by now. I'm... not really sure they'll have great grandparents by the time they come around.

My grandpa's both passed away, one while I was pregnant with lo. I still have my grandma's though. We go to lunch with one Grandma every week. She spends the whole time gushing over how much she loves lo, and I've gotten some amazing pictures of them together so lo will have them and she'll know that she got to spend lots of time with her great Grandma. My other Grandma lives far away, but we've visited so lo could meet her too.

Hubby's grandparents have all passed,so my grandmas are his now too.

Did your lo get to meet your grandparents?
