@regberadaisy: You have to trust your mommy instincts. I know I was told that breastfed babies can't be constipated. My baby was constipated. He would go a week or more and then he would have 5 movements in a day going from brown to green (or bright neon orange) and super runny kinda like egg whites. So he would go from constipated to diahhrea.

If you think something is wrong, don't take no as answer. See your doctor. You can try something like changing formula or removing foods from your diet (you should probably consult her doctor but I didn't). Give it 2 weeks and see if there is improvement.

My son had a stomach but this winter, the stool was very different than those early breastfed stools.

She's primarily BF but we also supplement. She gets probably 3-5 oz of formula a day.

@Mrsbells: hm interesting point about the frequency!

@brownie: that's what I thought! But she still has very runny poop. She'll be 11 weeks on Saturday.

My 11 week old always has runny poop but she is mainly breastfed and I was told that was normal. I'm think its diarrhea if they are constantly pooping; its more about frequency rather than the consistency?

How old is your baby? Is she breastfed or formula fed?

We had diahrea often before eliminating dairy and soy from his diet.

My LO's poop is always runny but since he is only fed breastmilk, isn't that what is expected? I don't think their poop is supposed to 'harden' at all until they start solids...

I feel like M has diarrhea a lot. A few weeks ago she had diarrhea off and on for almost a week straight. I called her ped after a few days and they never returned my call but by that point it had cleared up on its own.

Her stool is generally softer but every other day or so it'll be straight up runny.

She's not fussy, doesn't have a temp or anything really which is why I'm not terribly worried.

Do some infants just have much much looser stool than others?
