DS has it bad. He started really young and at 22 months his separation anxiety is still going strong. He spends most of his time with me and if I even leave the room for a second he usually freaks out. Lately if I even reach for my coat or keys he goes nuts. She hardly even turned to look back at me. A few days before we were scheduled to leave, she all of the sudden wouldn't let anyone, not even DH hold her. She'd immediately cry, reaching out to me if I'm close-by. It was night and day! Plus, we live far from family. I don't think it has to do with daycare or not. He has been going to daycare since he was 3 mos old so I was hoping we would avoid it - but dropping him off is such a hassle. Since I know he is fine once we are out the door I just drop him and bust out of there. He's almost 8 months and has never shown any stranger anxiety (actually, once he cried at 4 months when someone new held him). He barely looks at me when I drop him off at daycare and seems to have no preference for his parents! So far, my LO (7 months old) has no issues with this, in fact, he has never met a person he didn't love. We interviewed a baby sitter this weekend and the first thing he did when he saw her is reach to give her a hug. Do all LOs go through separation anxiety? Or does the fact LO has been going to daycare for so long mean that he won't have separation anxiety issues? </p>
