Lately she has discovered her bandana-style bibs that we used back when she was teething a lot, and she insists on wearing one all the time. She will sometimes change her mind about which one she prefers, and ask (insist) that we help her change bibs. And then of course her doll has to be wearing one too. It's so cute. Last year I bought so many long sleeve shirts/sweaters with jeans/pants and she refused to wear any of it. So this fall/winter I will only be buying long sleeve dresses with fun leggings to match. She definitely prefers to wear dresses all the time and she gets sad if I won't let her. She has a special pink bow with polka dots on it that she HAS to wear every day. Everything has to match although her sense of matching isn't the same as mine. LO also likes to comment on my outfits. Today I wore a button down and slacks - she told me I looked just like a cowgirl. Yesterday I wore pants that were too long. She tsk tsk'ed me and told me my pants weren't strong enough so I couldn't wear them to work. She must get it from daycare because I don't critique her outfits. But sense of style, not yet unless you count animal t shirts. Today she wore a too small pink shirt with dogs on it with pink flowered leggings (it was 85 degrees and she refused shorts). Before this it was all dresses. So who knows what next week will be. She does like to point out things that match. Like, navy and white striped shirt and navy and white flowered pants. No honey, those don't go. No, mom, look, blue and blue, white and white. I have no idea where he got the idea from, because I haven't worn a tie since before he was born. But I have to admit, I love seeing him dress himself up and also love that he has his own sense of style! My daughter is very particular about what she wears as well. She loves pink and she loves dresses, but she makes lots of nuanced fashion choices too. She knows exactly which pair of underwear she wants to wear, and which shoes too! I am always amazed at how specific her choices are, especially since I'm so far from caring what I wear each day. Does your LO have their own sense of style?
