We shoo flies outside, but the spiders in the house? They have to go. When we do yard work, we teach him that the bugs, worms and spiders are good out there and we let him touch (some) of them.

Hahaha, not yet but I'm pretty sure I won't mind it. Not 'squitos, at least. Lady bugs, catepillars and the like- don't kill. But, mosquitos, spiders, centipedes- feel free to be a serial killer! Yuck. And I continue to read articles on all the bad things mosquitos are carrying. Go Charlie, Go!

Sometimes DD kills ants and then kisses them "better." We always try to relocate bugs outside instead of killing them, but I think she gets a little over excited sometimes.

I feel bad about this one. We get so many mosquitoes in Brooklyn, and they bite us over and over so we're forced to kill them in front of the kids.

So now, Charlie has learned to hate mosquitoes. He is always saying, "Go away, 'squitoes!!" Then he tries to kill them with his hands (but fails, of course - it's not easy to kill a 'squito with your bare hands!).

I feel bad that we've trained him to want to kill insects without a second thought. At some point, I want to figure out a way to get him to see killing as the last resort. It's just hard when we're being devoured by a voracious mosquito... my primal desire is to kill that sucker!

Does your LO ever want to kill insects?
