My son has been using interesting language as a result of anti-bullying programming in his school. He's in kindergarten and he's already informed me that some of the kids in his class are bullies and that I shouldn't judge him when he does something differently than I do (which I have been saying forever, that people do things differently, there is no single correct way).

It's interesting to navigate. There was some mean girl action in his preschool class last year (one girl specifically told a portion of her chosen girls that they were not permitted to play with other kids in the class unless she gave them permission).

I don't think so, I don't use that word to them about kids their age and I've never heard them say it either. They're 5 and almost 3.

They know that sometimes people are in a bad mood and mean or need to learn to be nice a little better.

Sort of? She's only 2.5,but we've read Llama llama and the bully goat and I explained that being a bully is being not nice to someone littler than you. We've read a couple other books that have had bullies and she seems to understand that it's not nice to be one.

My kids don't yet. They are 3.5 and almost 5. I'm sure they have experienced some meanness but I haven't heard about bullying yet.

My older LO has a school wide (PK-6th grade) anti-bullying assembly at school next week. I am sure she will have questions about it.
