Yes, Tommee Tippee brand. I will try my hardest and do whatever is needed to avoided a thumb sucker. Not knocking anyone, I'm a major germ phobe. Also my 3 year old stepdaughter is s thumb sucker, and was hospitalized - 2 years ago because she got a staph infection that entered through a blister on her thumb from sucking it. Terrified me, it settled in her spine and she couldn't walk. I refuse to go through that.

My son had a paci and gave it up very easily. I'm not worried, she spits it out/refuses it when she doesn't want it.

Binks is his best friend. It falls out when he sleeps and it's a pain to have to go back and pop it in his mouth at night if he wakes up. He also faux binks. Mouth moves like it's in but it's not. Cutest thing ever.

Intense paci lover. If he could collect them all he would. Sometimes we put 4 or 5 in his crib to be sure he always has one on hand and he gets all excited he starts giggling. It's pretty funny.

RJ had one pretty much 24/7 except after falling asleep for the first 4 or so months of his life. Once he found his fingers, he didn't need it anymore. He's always been soothed by sucking, so these both were great tools to get him to sleep on his own.

LO can't hold a paci in her mouth - she was "tongue-tied" at birth and when she got snipped, her tongue still wasn't "loose" enough to hold a paci...

Nope, once in awhile she would in the car but that didn't last long. She's also not a thumb sucker. Baby looked like she was sucking her thumb in one of the sonograms so I'm a bit surprised.

@artbee: I love watching LO search for her thumb...Her mouth is gaped open and she's huffing and puffing for it until it finally lands in her mouth. :)

I never gave my LO a paci. She liked sucking on her fists and fingers.. now she tries chewing/sucking on everything she can get her hands on. -.-

@Rubies: I love the thumb sucking! I have a friend who's baby loses the paci in the middle of the night so she has to go pop it back in. When my LO loses her thumb, she just takes a few minutes to find it on her own. And I don't have to wake up and get out of bed!

Yup, my LOVED her paci and it was super helpful. But then when we took it away she was fine, too, so I don't think it is a bad habit if you don't overuse the paci and take it away early enough.

No, LO won't...But she's a champion thumb-sucker to soothe. I guess, I'm okay with that!

Thank heavens, yes. I don't look forward to breaking him of it, but we also don't give it constantly. However, it is tremendously helpful when he is otherwise taken care of but simply needs to self-soothe a bit.

My LO wouldn't take one. At first I didn't want to give her one... but then she seemed to love sucking sooo much. The nurse at the hospital told us to use our finger to soothe her, and she loved that. So I quickly gave in but she wouldn't take it. I tried a few different kinds but paci's just aren't for her.

And then a couple of months later we found out why. She's a thumb sucker.

Charlie and Olive never took to one. That's ok with me -- one less habit to break. But I do see the upsides of using one especially if it calms your child and/or helps them sleep.
