We had that rule until we were gifted a kids table that has a little cubby space... The toys go in there now! Not ideal but I'll fight different battles.

Yup! They want to do this every once in awhile. I just have them leave their baby/stuffed animal off to the side. No playing while eating!

Her stuffed puppy sometimes comes to dinner. He sits in a chair next to her with a plate, usually with a felt sausage from her kitchen.

We don't allow toys, but we have allowed them to place them near the table so the toys can "watch" them eat. Creepy. lol

We have a very strict "no toys at the table" rule, but lately the kids have been super into their stuffed animals. So after much begging and promises to eat their food, we decided to let them put the stuffed animals near the table (or on a chair), so they can look at their stuffed animals while they eat.

Yesterday our daughter insisted on being able to hold her favorite stuffed animal while she ate though, and we had to draw a firm line. It's a slippery slope, and I don't want to be surrounded by lots of stuffed animals distracting the kids from eating!
