My 2 year old LOVES it! He could play in the sand for hours. Last year when we went to the beach he was slow to warm up to it but ended up loving it once he got comfortable with it!

I don't have a LO quite yet, but our 25month old niece spent the entire week we were at the beach petrified of the sand. If it got on her hands or feet she would whine "it's dirty!" Until someone washed her off. We ended up taking her little kiddie pool out on the beach and filling it with ocean water, and she would stay in that for hours. Highly recommend!

@Smurfette: I've just been lazy! I can try it out next week and let you know! It's only sand box sand, not beach sand, but close enough :)

@lamariniere: I remember going to the beach as a kid and our trunk/car being FULL no matter how well we rinsed off! I hear that baby powder gets it off super easily. Haven't tried it myself though!

It took her a bit to get used to it! We have a sandbox out back and she likes it now. With shoes (crocs) on. I haven't tried without again yet.

She loves it. Her favorite thing to do at the beach is dig through the sand and find shells and stones. Maybe try letting him play with a small amount of sand in the yard before going back to the beach. It's difficult for them to walk in too, so maybe that's a source of anxiety.

I don't know!! She hasn't been around it. I probably should let her experience it before we go to the beach. This Mama is going to be heartbroken if she doesn't like the beach.

He absolutely hated it for a long time! We finally spent some time in the playground sandbox this spring with toys and he now enjoys it so our latest trip to the beach was a success (at 15 months).

However, right now he only likes DRY sand and will still flip out if we bring him on the wet sand by the water. I'm hoping we can work on that over the summer!

Only one day trip to the beach so far but it seems like she loves it! We'll find out for sure as we're headed to the shore for a long weekend tomorrow.

I used to hate the sand. Now I'm a beach bum.

LO seemed to like the sand but we'll see when we spend a week at the beach now that she's a little older.

DD is 10 months and is cautious but curious with sand. She likes to dig her toes in and pick up handfuls. That said, we've only ever been in sandboxes at the park... She may feel differently when we are at the beach in a few weeks!

We've taken DS to the beach a few times so far this year and god forbid he steps off the beach blanket. He semi freaks out at just the sight of sand, forget about if there is any on his hands or feet! He is 18 months, for reference.

I'm hoping being there next weekend with his older cousins will help break him of his fear. I want to build sand castles!! :silly:
