@MamaMoose: I'm sure she will adjust just fine! My son was used to having us lay down with him to take his naps. The first two days at daycare, the teacher had to lay down with him so that he would nap. On the 3rd day, she stopped doing that (and of course he cried). But on the 4th day, he just fell asleep on his own! Kids adjust really quickly at daycare so I'm sure yours will too!

@MamaMoose: i can understand that. if there's nothing in the crib, less risk. i hadn't heard that before since charlie and olive were older when they started daycare. i wonder if that's the law here too.

for what it's worth, swaddle weaning both charlie and olive was a breeze and we did it in one night.

@Mrs. Bee: it's so strange. They say it's because of SIDS risk which I don't understand since the pedi told us to swaddle.

Mine adapted really well to naps at daycare. He naps about 90minutes-2 hours in the morning. During the afternoon, he naps about the same. It took the longest time for him to put two and two together with naps at daycare and naps at home.

We took him for his 6 month appointment. I scheduled it at 2:30p.m. Bad idea. It was right around nap time at 3pm By the time the doctor saw him, he was rubbing his eyes, was tired and cranky. We got home after the shots and he slept for 2.5 hours. Next appointment, I'm scheduling them earlier to not interfere with that time frame.

@MamaMoose: It will be ok! The first few days were a little rough - there was so much activitiy my LO only took tiny catnaps. But, I'm convinced that daycare is what eventually helped him become a good napper : )

@winniebee: thank you. I needed to hear that! I've literally stayed up nights crying over this issue because I feel so badly for her when she gets over tired and I feel like she's going to be miserable at day care.

@littlebittyhouse: TN state law doesn't allow any sort of swaddle, sleep sack, etc.

@mediagirl: i wonder if this is what the 2 hour naps are on the weekend? he also sleeps way late on the weekends - like 7:45/8am

@MamaMoose: will they let you send a woombie or other sleep sack type?

@winniebee: so hard right?

@winniebee: I tried to swaddle wean a few times and she just won't do it for me! I eventually just gave up and decided there was no reason for her to be miserable and not sleep any earlier than necessary. I don't know if it was the right decision but I guess we'll see how she does....

Yes, but not as well as at home.

At home, we can count on 1:30-2 hrs in the morning and then another 1-1:30 in the p.m.

At daycare, it's 30-45 mins in the morning and then maybe 1:30 in the afternoon.

@MamaMoose: I quit the swaddle about a month before daycare b/c of this very issue!

Uh I'm so nervous about this. My LO will not sleep for me unless I swaddle her. And day care can't swaddle her by law!! She starts on Monday and I just don't know what to do. I'm praying it will just be a really rough couple of weeks of transition and then she'll do ok. Day care says its nothing they haven't handled before..... Ahhhhhh. Is it terrible I'm considering quitting my job over swaddling!!

Not much. She naps 30 minutes to an hour (if we're lucky). She tries to make up for it on the weekends, I believe. She usually takes wicked long naps on the weekend.

My LO is a bad napper at daycare, about 2 naps that are 30 - 40 mins. He naps much better on the weekends.

I don't don't how to remedy this but on the weekends LO takes a 2hr morning nap and then at leat a 1hr afternoon nap.

During the week he does like, three 30-45min cat naps.

By the time I pick him up and get him home he's a mess.

Does your LO nap at daycare? If not, how do you manage?!
