R prefers her left side so we try to switch her head an feet but that doesn't help. She sees a chiro though and she's pretty loose. Her ped said more tummy time and encouraging her to look the opposite direction during that time. I haven't noticed a flatter side though.

My LO always turned her head to the right, our Ped had us stretching her neck several times a day due to the muscles being a bit tight and we got a noggin nest to help too. At 8weeks we had to start propping her on one side to help even more and that seemed to help the most. Since then she prefers to lay on her left side which caused her head to start to flatten on that side so I now alternate naps on the right (cause she doesnt sleep as well on that side) and night sleep on the left. And it seems to be doign ok, our Ped isnt concerened at all.

@BunnyDragon: he's been seen by a chiropractor since he was a week old so I've just monitored if he is favoring one side if the other and she adjusts him weekly. She also released his tight jaw which helped his chin to come forward so he could BF

@tidybee @aprk: how did you learn that about your LO? I'm very interested as my LO sleeps on his right side only and I'm afraid of him getting a misshapen head like his older brother. I tried switching sides, but he couldn't stay asleep. Please elaborate. I would like to discuss with my chiropractor and or his pediatrician. Thank you in advance!

Ours did! We put a musical aquarium on the
Side of his crib that he didn't prefer in hopes of enticing him to turn his head to the other side. It took time but I think by 4.5 months he was comfortable laying on both sides and turning his head both ways. We'll find out in a few weeks if his head has evened put....

When he lays down, alternate where his head goes every night. So the next night his head goes where his feet were the previous day.

We've been going to a chiropractor since he was a week old to relieve the same problem as @Tidybee. It's been great and he now lays on either side.

DD favored one side and we later learned that it was due to some tension in her neck, shoulder, and back from the way she was positioned inside me. Her head brcame flat on the side and she had a really hard time BFing. We took her for craniosacral massage and within 4 sessions, she actually seemed more relaxed and we were able to EBF ever since!

LO strongly prefers his right side and at his last ped appt, the dr said to try to get him to spend some time on the left, since the right side was starting to get flat.

He STRONGLY prefers his right side lol, short of putting a rolled up blanket as a wedge to keep him from turning, I'm not sure what to do.

His ped didn't seem that concerned, so I think a little right side sleeping wont hurt but I'd like him to spend more time on the left.

Any ideas?

He's almost 6 weeks.
