Yes, she crawls over and smiles! I love it! She wasn't that interested when she was younger.

Almost every single day Wagon Jr. reacted negatively at pickup. He'd run from us and not want to leave, playing with every single toy in the room and kicking and screaming if we tried to pick him up. We had to bribe him to get him into the car. I think at that stage he was just having trouble with transitions.

This lasted from about 18 months until 2.5 years or so. Now when we appear at the end of the day he yells "mommy! daddy!" and comes running and jumps into our arms with a huge smile. It's now one of the two best moments in my day (the other is greeting LMW in the morning.. she always has huge smiles for me when she first wakes up).

She's totally ignored me the past two days and just kept playing w her toy. Other days she has smiled And/or cried when she saw me. It's real hit or miss!

She has always been a happy baby and generally smiles at any new face she sees. While I would like to think she is smiling at me, I think if I was a stranger, at this point, 6 months, she would smile the same. :-)

My LO is very excited when he sees me. He used to smile when he saw me but now the minute he hears my voice he looks for me, smiles and throws up his hands. He's 6.5 months, 5 months adjusted age.

Until my son could crawl or walk to me he never really got overly excited upon my arrival to pick him up at daycare. He'd cry if I wasn't fast enough at getting him but that wasn't until probably well after 6+ months.

I don't think its anything to worry about. At 5 months LO would sometimes show emotion towards us when we picked her up; sometimes she would give a little grin, and sometimes (rarely) she would show more emotion. Sometimes she just sort of looked at us and didn't really smile much.

Now at a 6.5 months she usually squeals really loudly when I/DH pick her up, and puts up her arms to get picked up. She doesn't *always* do this though; and I've noticed that some of the older babies in her room don't always show overt emotion either when their parents come to get them.

And if so, at what age did you start noticing that? My five-month-old's EI therapist asked me today whether she kicked her feet and smiled when she saw me at daycare. The answer is no. She looks at me, but doesn't smile at me or kick her feet. Sometimes she smiles and laughs at her teachers when we get there, but there's not a real reaction to me at pickup. Now I'm scared that's a sign of another problem. Any insight?
