Most of the time, yes. But then other times he'll look at me and say "4, 5, 6, 7.." Lol

DD does! DS, not so much. If I'm counting for DS, DD will interrupt with "3, 4, 5, 6, 7..." Haha

She use to right when I count to 1. Now at 2.5 and with a brand new little sister home, she's become more defiant and it doesn't always work.

My LO always does whatever I ask after 3, sort of on 4.

@Truth Bombs: Same here! I only have to say one, and he sprints to whatever it is I asked him to do. There was only one or two occasions when I got to 3, and he knows that's an automatic timeout.

Usually, although lately she is more likely to push it until close to 3, while she used to hop to it. We use it more as you will lose something than you will go in timeout, which is reserved for safety issues.

Most of the time, yes, by 2 he's up and doing whatever I've asked. Usually I use it when I'm trying to get him to go somewhere - like out to the car in the morning to go to school. If I get to 3 and he still hasn't started walking towards the door, I just pick him up and carry him.

Yes! I'm trying not to count anymore though... I think timeouts get less effective as the kids are older, and there are other techniques that work for older kids.

If you say, I'm going to count to 3, does your child respond to that or do they just ignore it and think you're joking? Our 3 year old responds to it. She knows she gets a favorite toy taken away if she doesn't respond by 3.
