DS has always slept well...no matter where we have been. I've been very lucky with him.

Usually LO does good when we're away because she gets so exhausted. If we don't bring something to help black out light and there aren't good blinds/shades she will wake up early though.

Once when we were camping a car had it's alarm on and the stupid guy just kept driving it around the campsite because he was trying to get away from people, but there was no place to go. That made LO wake up and she stood up and said, "mommy. mommy. Up!" over and over. DH and I looked at each other trying not to laugh and played dead. She went back to sleep :)

He's a decent sleeper at home, and a decent sleeper away. He's fought a nap here and there but we've been on the go pretty often so he's used to it.

DD is a great traveler and hasn't had any problems sleeping while we're away from home.
DS has never been away, but I'm going to take the sound machine and the comforter thing he sleeps on when we travel for the first time as a family of 4 in July!
I'm sure he'll do fine.

Now that DD is super aware of things I'm worried about her, but hopefully she'll be ok!

Uh oh... now I'm nervous. We're leaving LO at my FIL and SMIL's house for a weekend while we go to a wedding... he's never slept anywhere except home...

Nope, really bad...even after 10 days at my parents she was waking quite a bit throughout the night. They live in a fairly rural/quiet setting (can hear the waves crashing on the shore) while we live in an urban neighbourhood with street noise. That's what I guess throws her off, but not sure!

He sleeps pretty well away from home...we keep his routine the same, bring a crib sheet from home, white noise, lovey, etc...I would say his sleep is equivalent (which doesn't mean great--still has wakeups!).

not at all. i try to make the environment like it is at home with her sound machine and routine, but she is way too interested in the new environment and doesn't sleep well in her pack and play.

Nope. We tried a month ago and we were up ALL NIGHT. She never slept longer than 30 minutes at a time and cried for hours at a time. She got 5 hours of sleep broken up, tops.

It was absolutely horrible.

M (9 months) usually does well at my parents' house, but we were there for the weekend and she was up at 4:30 both mornings with terrible naps. Cried the whole way home because she was so exhausted. She's getting some teeth though too.

sighhh he use to. now at 11 months he screams in his pack n play so he literally has to be bone dead tired to fall asleep in it or we bring him in bed (which he equates to play time)

Sounds totally normal to me, but then again, I sleep poorly on vacation as well.

Yeah, we usually have to cosleep during vacation, I don't mind it, but it does help him feel comfortable in a strange location. It's gotten worse as he's gotten older, first year, he didn't know any different.

we just got back from our first wknd getaway to a beach/lake town nearby...

the first night of sleep away from home + separation anxiety (he just hit 7 monht).. our usual GREAT sleeper (7-630), slept like crap! the first night, 930 asleep, awake a few times due to space in pnp and i had to go in and cosleep for part of the night too! (he is NOT a snuggler)

the second night was better, but he fought naps that day...

boy did it throw me off! :P

hoping he'll be better in august for our weeklong vaca (he'll be 9 months then)
