If given in small doses at a time, yes. Otherwise, he'll cough/choke on it and it comes spewing out along with any milk and food remaining in his body. It also needs to be berry flavor. Bubble gum is no bueno!

@Pumuckl: Our nebulizer is LOUD, there's no way my son would remain asleep during a treatment, that I know for sure!

We have two options with the nebulizer, the mask or the nozzle. We used primarily the nozzle because the mask freaked him out and when he got more comfortable, he'd help us "hold" it.

@Cherrybee: We also have to use a nebulizer. If found one trick that works: I nurse him before bed and then when he is done and drowsy he gets his paci. The paci then fits under the mask and he will then pretty much sleep through the whole nebulizer treatment.

So it went from being hellish to workling really well for us.

DS is awesome about taking medicine. I on the other hand, as a child, was horrendous! I have memories from about the age of four being held down and forcefed medicine because they couldn't get me to take it in any way and I had pneumonia. I learned to swallow a pill young as a result!

DD is terrible about taking her medicine. She refuses it off a spoon but if you syringe it in she spits it straight back out again! I wait until she is hungry then take the teat off a bottle, put the correct measure of medicine into the teat and give it to her. If she's hungry enough, she will suck and swallow 5ml before she notices it's not milk and spits it out!

As for her inhaler - ugh. She freaks out, waving her head around frantically. You have to pin her down and force the mask over the mouth - it's awful. But nothing else has worked.
