But we do use it if we go swimming or are going to be outside for a prolonged time. He has never burned but has a solid tan. This year I got the stick and if we're only going to be outside for less than a hour I use that on their face, arms and legs. Makes life so much easier!<br /> We're usually in the backyard in the evenings and around 5 the sun is still pretty strong these days. So it depends where you are in relation to shade and time of day for me. DD is so tanned now! I reapplied a sunscreen a few times a day during our vacation and she's a few shades darker. DH has a light complexion, but gets so tanned as well. We had her 2 year appointment after a week at the beach and she was pretty tan. I asked her doctor and she said as long as she's wearing sunscreen, to block out the bad Rays, it's fine. Both my husband and I have olive skin, but she gets very tan! I used to tan really well as a kid (not consciously, I was just outside all the time in the summer) and was shocked when I got my first real sunburn during college.
