@oliviaoblivia: I noticed maybe a month back that my 2.5 year old was tripping and falling a lot for no reason for a few days. She was otherwise healthy, and is normally really good in the gross motor skills department. My guess for the reason behind it was a recent growth spurt.

. @snowjewelz: DS has big feet too. Maybe that's it.

@oliviaoblivia: good to know about the growth spurts. He seems to always be moving up in shoe sizes so that could totally be it

Not really.
DD's teacher was mentioning the other day that the kids tend to trip more during growth spurts when their feet grow and they aren't use to walking with new bigger feet.

Yep. He falls on his face a lot. Yesterday he wanted to show me how he dances "head shoulders knees and toes" and fell off the couch instead. The day before he was running in the hallway and skidded right into a closet. Toddlers...

Thanks girls. I, too, hope he'll grow out it soon. I was starting to worry if maybe there's something wrong w his walking. But your responses help to know he's not the only one. Thanks!! :)

DD is also 3.5. She trips All. The. Time. It doesn't matter what kind of surface she's walking on or what kind of shoes she's wearing. She doesn't get hurt because she usually catches herself before she falls. I'm hoping it's just the age and she'll grow out of it.

My 4 year old does, when she is walking while not paying attention, going too fast, being goofy, which seems to be a lot of the time! Sometimes she seems to fall really hard but never really gets hurt.

DS is 3.5 y/o and he's been walking since 13 months. I don't know if it's just because he's so goofy, or lightning fast, or what but it seems like everytime we go somewhere he trips. I think he's tripping on his own feet. It doesn't matter what shoes he's wearing or what surface he's walking on either. Although I think he might trip a bit more on smooth tile at grocery stores even though he's wearing Nikes. He rarely gets hurt from the tripping though, just the very occasionally slightly scraped knee if he trips on cement. I always remind him to slow down.

Is your older LO this way too?
