She is 2.5 and she uses a straw cup with lid most of the time. She can drink out of an open cup but ends up putting food in it or her hands and I get annoyed and then she tips it over when it's not quite empty... But I will let her do it with water. She was a mess for a while but now at 3y2m we mostly don't put tops on for water cups when we're seated. She drinks water all over the house in a regular cup and we rarely have accidents. We bring water to all areas of the house, or out and about with us it just makes sense. My youngest (almost 2) can use one with minimal liquids in it but usually we stick to cups with lids for her.</p> <p>Does your LO use a cup without a lid most of the time? I'm curious when kids transition to those for good, or if it's more cup preference. </p>
