We use the one that they use in the NICU (only sold in hospitals). Advent makes a similar one. The lactation consultant told us that those are the most like the breast so we've stuck to those.

With DS1, we used Soothies and MAM until 7 months when he weaned himself.

With DS2, we've tried lots of different ones (he's gone through a lot because he has a cyst on his tongue, poor baby). Our favorite are the new Nuk Genius silicone ones. We also liked the newborn Gumdrop pacis, but the older ones are too heavy for him to keep in his mouth.

I hope that works for you guys!

We used a soothie in the beginning because that's what the hospital gave us... he took to them so well, the nurses gave us a huge bag of like 30 of them! But they were kind of big for his mouth, so we switched to Avent orthodontic and he had those until he dropped his paci and started sucking on his fingers.

Nuk is all our boy will take, if anything at all. I think he will only Nuks since they are more "boob like" We started offering from about 3 weeks on.

I went into parenting hoping he wouldn't become overly dependent on one- that we would only "plug him in" when we needed a few minutes of sanity, like driving or during a meal. It turns out that he is not a fan, sometimes I can fool him if he is sleepy enough. My husband makes fun of me for this all the time :)

We use the MAM ones also. He doesn't like the "orthodic" looking ones that tip up, if that makes any sense.

DS went through soothies, then tommee tippee, then avent, then Mam. He really likes the Mam ones now and they don't trap water inside like the agent ones did, so we'll probably stick with them.

From birth to about 4 months it was Dr Browns. At 4 months we were needing to change sizes and introduced MAM 6+ months. That's all we use. We also don't breastfeed.

MAM was the only one my son would take. Everything else, including the soothies were a no-go for him. Since he also takes the MAM bottles really well when not breastfeeding it made sense that he took to the pacis, too.

We gave her a paci at one month. We only use it when she cries while we are out somewhere and sometimes to get her to sleep at night. She usually spits it out once she falls asleep. We use Avent orthodontic pacifiers.

I gave my LO the Nuk brand starting at 4 months when she used to feed for comfort. She loved that brand and didn't enjoy any others. I'm working on weaning her now, but so far have just managed to get her hooked on the breast again lol!

We introduced one around 5 weeks. He never liked the soothies, but loves the Nuk brand. It is handy for ending nursing sessions that I think he'd like to go on indefinitely otherwise.

Also, I used to have luck getting him to take a paci at night instead of feed when he woke up, but no longer. He does eat like a horse at night, though. I hope it works for Olive.

Baby Olive loves to breastfeed at night just for comfort, so we're thinking about adding a paci into her life.

Anyone not introduce a paci until later, say around five months or so? Also, for anyone using a paci: what brands have you used, and which ones have been most popular with your LO?
