He said they're getting so little that it doesn't matter if they swallow and that the risks of caries was much greater. LO is currently 3.5, and we use fluoride free toothpaste because he doesn't know how to spit yet. I do need to get him to a dentist though.</p> <p>We were also given the recommendation to give him fluoride, but I don't give it to him. There was fluoride in my water growing up and I have the worst teeth in the world. None in DH's, never had fluoride growing up and he's never had a cavity in his life. Our dentist told us to use toothpaste with it even though she can't spit, my pediatrician husband is nervous about it. So we got the supplement from our Doctor. My dads a dentist and I trust him when he says it's perfectly safe. I have naturally soft teeth that are cavity prone regardless of what I do.
