Yea, I don't know if it's her insurance or if it's a NYC thing. Because all her friends and sisters all get u/s at every visit too. And not all the same OB.

Nope the ultrasound tech gave me an estimated weight when she did the anatomy scan at 22 weeks but that was it. I will be having an ultrasound this week (37 weeks) and that is to get an idea of the size but they cant tell a definite weight.
Maybe she gers an ultrasound everytime because her pregnancy is high risk?

Not my doctor, but our sonographer (I think that's what she is called) tells us the estimated weight at every ultrasound we get.
I am high risk and see a perinatologist, and I have had about 11 ultrasounds. I get a weight every time!

Once I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, I had to go to in for frequent ultrasounds so that they could measure the baby and ensure that he wasn't getting too big. During those appointments the technician would tell me the estimated weight.

No. My visits I just get my weight (not baby's), my BP, baby's HR, and fundal height. That's all I get.

No, just belly measurements at each visit. I did get a weight estimate at each ultrasound, but they turned out to be way off because my son is very long. But I guess that is why they are called estimates :)

I get an estimate at u/s, every three weeks, will be every two weeks soon. As pp, it's quickly calculated from the measurements of the head and belly. The radiographer told me that when babies growth slows, it's the belly it shows in first so they like to get a good pic of that to measure from each time. However, I wouldn't be having all these scans if I weren't having twins. My friend is due six weeks after me and has only had one scan, her dating scan, so far. They weigh her and measure her belly each time, but she is going to ask for another scan this week as she isn't seeing much expansion in her belly the last two-three weeks.

@mediagirl:
Not anymore but at the beginning she had internal bleeding that they did not know where it was coming from. But they knew it was not from the baby. But since the middle of her pregnancy they have found where it was coming from and it has stopped. So you're right it's possible they could have just continued doing it because of that. But she was getting u/s and weight at every visit before the bleeding started.

@artbee:
I'm not really worried about it. Just curious if it was the norm for other ladies. My mom asks me every time I have a visit and I have to tell every single time "no mom my doc doesn't measure the weight". She doesn't understand that every doctor is different!

@BabyBoecksMom:
That's what my doc saids every visit too. That everything's "Perfect". Perfect must have a wide range!! haha

We didn't get an ultrasound after the 20 weeks unless there was a problem. I measured big so I did end up getting another ultrasound, and they gave me an estimated weight then. It could be a pound off either way though. I think if you're measuring fine there's no reason to worry about weight.

@regberadaisy: No, my OB would never give me the weight. He just told me she was an "average" sized baby. LOL

He wouldn't give the weight because he said the ultrasounds are only 85% accurate. So that 15% could be up to a lb difference.

I have been given a weight at my ultrasounds. Now they just measure my belly to make sure it's measuring properly.

Is your SIL high risk?

They only estimated the baby's weight for me at my major hospital ultrasounds. The last one I had was to determine whether I had placenta previa at 32 weeks, and baby was smack in the 50th percentile for all of her measurements.

Yes, he measured the baby's head, stomach, lower leg, forearm, chest, and gave estimated length and weight. He also checked blood flow in the umbilical cord and circulation in the heart. He was a high risk doctor so I think that's why he was so detailed.

nope, my ob's machine is an antique. whenever i got sonogram from the high risk place (except for once), they always gave me the weight - they measure the head, belly, etc. and get a calculated weight.

The OB gave me LO's weight at today's appointment - 29 weeks. They got her weight by measuring all sorts of her body parts and calculating the weight from there (somehow!). They said she is 3.5lbs. They've never given me her weight before.

I won't get another ultrasound until 36 weeks, so I guess I won't get another LO weigh-in until then.

My SIL is 2 weeks ahead of me and at each of her appointment she gets an ultrasound. Somehow at every appointment she gets the weight of the baby. I'm thinking they are just giving her an "estimate" of what the average baby weighs at that week.
But I can be wrong.

We paid for an extra u/s at week 30 and my ultrasound tech couldn't even give me a length because the baby was just too curled up.

But I don't know maybe my SIL's OB has a more advance machine?

Do you get the weight of your baby at each doctor visit or u/s?
