Our little dog growls at us sometimes at 5am if she decides she needs to go outside. So annoying! Other days she can sleep in until 10! Our big dog sleeps until we get up!

Not usually, but this morning our dog got up and peed on the carpet in our bedroom at 3am and then was still whining for me to take her out at 6! Very unlike her. I hope she doesn't have a UTI or something :(

Our dog goes to the bedside of the "man of the house" and whines until they get up and feed her or go outside with her (and she has a doggie door.). I say "man of the house" because she always goes to DH at our house, but she goes to my dad at my parents.

Our little dog, who sleeps in the bed with us, terrorizes my husband every morning. As soon as he stirs, she pounces on him and swats him and growls (playfully) until he growls back (yes, we're those people) and plays with her.

Zeus (my avatar) is a nutcase in the mornings. It's his most active time of day. He likes to slam my bedroom door shut, then crawl all over me, because he can't get back out of my room. Over and over and over. He tears through the house, plays with everything he can find, and it just all around crazy.

Cooper, our lab, waits for DH to get up and use the bathroom. As soon as DH is up, he snipes his spot on the bed and is VERY reluctant to get back down when DH comes back. For some reason, he's decided that taking MY spot on the bed while I pee is probably not a good idea.

Our golden, Riley, whines, because DH used to get up for work at 4:30 am, and one of the morning things for him was letting the dogs out. DH has been getting up at 6:30 recently, but Riley hasn't adjusted to the new schedule, yet, so at 4:30, he expects to go out. He's slowly getting better.

My tabby cat is good, though. She'll keep sleeping next to me as long as I'm willing to keep sleeping. :) She's a good nap buddy, too.

Our cat likes to meow outside the door around 5:30-6am if DH hasn't woken up yet. Sometimes he does it even earlier and I never understand why.

Our dog sleeps in the room with us and usually doesn't even get up when my alarm goes off! I've had to shake him awake before, lol. But recently he's started going out of the room with my DH in the morning. Usually DH can hear him get up and lets him out, but sometimes he doesn't, so our dog stands at the door and touches his nose to it so it rattles every.single.time he bumps it.

@char54: Both of our dogs do sleep a lot, too.

It's so hard to go to work in the morning when they look like this. (pic coming soon).

My cocker spaniel is small enough that I can hold him like a baby and he will fall asleep in my arms. I wish my other dog was as small as him.

Other down side is they like to take my spot when I get up. We just upgraded to a king size, so it's not as bad anymore.

@LovelyPlum: At least she only stares at you! If we sleep past 7 (her breakfast time), she watches us for signs of life though mostly only DH since he does her breakfast. The second he opens his eyes she pounces on his face and tries to stick her tongue in his mouth to see if the food is in there.

Nope, not anymore, since I get up earlier. On the weekends, if I stay in bed late, they will. It's so much easier now that we have fenced yard, too. It was so much effort to take them for walks when we live in an apt. I love opening up the sliding door and letting them go.

She'll flop over on the carpet and roll around until she's satisfied, THEN she'll stretch and come wake you up.

@spaniellove: LOL. Well come on, Mom, don't I get a treat?!

The answer to this in our house is YES. Our dog will sit over your face and stare down at you until you get up to let her go out. Or, less annoyingly, she'll come beside the bed and hit you with her muzzle to tell you to wake up. I'm a light sleeper, so she usually wakes me up first. She's mighty darn persistent for someone who can't speak!
