I have no idea why that in particular. I ultimately wound up changing my nickname (several times), so I guess that dissatisfaction with my name stuck.</p> <p>When I was young my nickname was Beth (still is with family, but I use it at all otherwise), and when I was a preschooler I thought that it went on the end of all my names, since my first name is Elizabeth. I would tell people my name was "Elizabeth 'shell-Beth [last name]-Beth." (I remember wanting a nickname when I was a kid!) Then her dad rattled off a bunch of names and she picked that one. She also said a kid in her preschool class has started calling her that now. Currently, she doesn't want Nina as a nickname though. She wants it as her REAL name. Funny thing, I think it kind of fits her!
