@locavore_mama: that does sound so, so stressful! I'm really glad the logistics of it turn dh off too, I wouldn't want to keep him from it if it was really what he wanted, but he doesn't want to give up his cushy, flexible office life either

@nana87: it's just way too stressful! Sometimes it comes down more to luck than being a good cook. It's about being able to afford the right location for the food you're serving.

My dad would literally leave the house at 9am and get home at midnight. I would go work there right after school then go home after the dinner rush to do my homework. And on Fridays and Saturdays I was there till midnight along with my brothers. It's NOT a fun life!
The thought is way more glamorous than the reality.

@locavore_mama: exactly! Sometimes I think dh would be so much happier if he was cooking or running the front of a restaurant than at his job, and his bff is always trying to get him to quit his job and open one with him, but it is absolutely terrifying to me. Not just bc it is SO risky, but it would be such a different lifestyle and I don't know if I could handle it. I like having nights and weekends as our time together, esp with a lo on the way!

yes, but not food i would consume :P he can make scrambled eggs and boil pasta. he does this thing where he takes two big bags of frozen boneless chicken breasts and puts them on cookie sheets lined with foil, then puts them in a 400 degree oven and turns the oven off and leaves them there overnight or for a really long time. it's gross. he doesn't put anything on them either! gag

@nana87: our friends and family tell us all the time we should open a restaurant. No, thank you! Then it's no longer fun if you do it for a living. We owned a restaurant growing up and I will never do that again and esp not to our kids!

Yes! He's an amazing chef. This is totally bragging, but his bff actually works in the restaurant industry and has told me that my dh could be a chef at any restuarant if he wanted to, so I'm lucky to have him as my personal chef :silly: He loves it, he has a blog where he writes about the meals he makes us as well as restaurant reviews and other food related stuff. My dad actually does most the cooking in my family as well, so even though it wasn't something I was explicitly looking for in a partner, I don't think I could have handled a relationship where he expected me to be the main cook--I think I needed someone who would at least split the kitchen duties with me (and I do think it's really fun to cook together, though we don't usually do that bc dh gets too bossy when we do, haha).

Mine does...more often than me, actually. I can't say he's the best cook always (he insists on not following recipes, but doesn't actually have the know-how required to do this), but it takes care of dinner most nights so I'm not complaining
