Now that I have a glass of wine a few nights a week, he often joins in. Also, everyone seems to bring us meals as new parents with a bottle of wine! We're never to the point where either of us would say that we drink too much though. </p> <p>I think it's natural...you're used to being in an atmosphere where you can drink wherever and whenever...and then you're pretty much confined to your home once the baby arrives. And unless you're taking your baby out to the bar at 9pm like you used to, it's natural to just move that to the home. We are both big drinkers and I have been looking forward to resuming my nightly cocktail after the baby comes so I would be upset if suddenly he was sober once I was finally allowed to drink again.</p> <p>But I did notice he went through sort of a heavy drinking phase while we were TTC and after I got pregnant. I remember the week of the IUI I was worried since he had events every night that week (it was during the holidays) and didn't hold back at all with the booze. When we were at the Dr.'s office he still smelled like alcohol and I was worried it might affect our chances! Then after I got pregnant instead of scaling back since I was no longer drinking, he kind of took it up a notch but it turned out to be just a phase. He's now only a weekend drinker and he limits it to one per night even then. </p> <p>While it did begin to worry me a little, I never gave him a hard time about it because he was still getting to work just fine, making it to the gym every day and if anything he was even more helpful around the house. It sounds funny to say, but I think it's possible I notice what/how much he drinks more now.</p> <p>Pre-baby we lived in the city and went out quite a bit with friends (often separately) and he also worked pretty late so I would be asleep long before he came to bed. For all I know, he could have been drinking a bit while watching TV/winding down from the day.</p> <p>But now that we have LO and are in the suburbs and rarely go out, I definitely tend to notice every little thing and yeah, it seems like he drinks a lot. I'm like you in that I don't see the need and I'm annoyed by how much money we spend just on alcohol. Before, we'd get a bottle of wine a couple nights a week and have a glass or two with dinner. Now, he stops and buys beer almost every day after work. He probably drinks between 2-4 beers nightly. We've gotten in several arguments about it because I just don't see the necessity. Plus the cost adds up over the month. And, my father is an alcoholic so it's a touchy subject for me. </p> <p>Has anyone else noticed that your SO drinks more post-baby?? </p>
