Only when talking to our daughter. When she was younger, she started calling us by our real names haha so we quickly changed to calling each other "Mommy" and "Daddy"

It doesn't come naturally to us -- feels especially weird to me to call husband "Daddy." But we used to call each other by name, and around 18 months the baby started regularly calling us "Tara" and "Ed." It was *hilarious* coming from the mouth of a toddler, but we figured we should probably nip it in the bud.

DH and I have been doing it since we've had our furbabies!.. even before we got married. But when we're around people, we'll call each other by first names.

Yup! We do and even when its just DH and I around with our furkids. Haha! When we have his daughter up I def do a lot more so she can hear it and not be afraid to use it. (DH's DD is afraid to call him Daddy because it "hursts mommy's feelings and makes mommy cry", her mom is re-married and that is her "daddy" slowly getting better with this as she has gotten older. )

@katiekc: we're in the same boat. LOL no kids yet, but def do that around the furbabies. They actually really know DH as "daddy." Not as much with the mommy one. I'm just the one that feeds them, bathes them, and does all the dirty work. LOL can't wait for real babies? :P

He'll sometimes call me momma, it felt really weird at first but I've been calling myself momma to her more so it's started to feel less weird. Though just the two of us he usually calls me by my name unless I'm not paying attention.

Yup, except he calls me "Mr. Moms." It got started when we would introduce the stuffed animals to our son...Mr. Caterpillar, Mr. Giraffe, etc. Even Sophie the teething giraffe is male in our house.

We hardly call each other by our real names... That would be super weird for us! It's always been various nicknames... the most common one over the years has been "Honey"... Our 3yo will sometimes call my DH "Honey"... The way she says it isnt weird, just funny coming from her. And she doesn't do it regularly enough, so we don't correct it or anything... It's just funny :)

My DH calls me mom to my son, but when he is talking to me, its by my first name. I never thought it odd because I grew up with my parents calling each other mom and dad. I never heard them say their names! We also call my parents Nana and Papa, with DS is around, and we seem to call my dad Papa all the time anyways now!

Ever since I got pregnant he's referred to me as momma or mama in private conversation, mostly about the baby, and I respond in kind, calling me poppa or papa. It's cute, I don;t think we'll have a hard time with it when baby comes.

I didn't know my mom had a first name until I was five or six. I thought her name was Mommy. "Mommy, why did Grandma call you Becky?" "Because that's my name!" "But your name is Mommy!" "Well, I'm only Mommy for you and your brother. For everyone else, I have a different name." I knew my daddy was also Paul, though (which worked well anyway since "Pa" is an acceptable Daddy term.)

Not there yet in our own relationship, but since having a baby, my SIL & BIL refer to everyone in the family, including themselves by their relationship to their child! Like "Auntie M", "Grandpa", "Daddy" whatever, even in regular adult conversations. When you're involving the child, I think it's totally cool, but in a conversation between adults, I think it's kind of weird :)

Yes! I forget when we're in public sometimes and call out "Daddy" to Mr. Marbles instead of his name! It definitely sounds and looks weird outside of the home, but it's natural for us within the context of our family. Mr. Marbles calls me "Mama." I think it's OK as long as I don't start referring to Mr. Marbles as "Daddy" in conversations with other people.

Sometimes I will refer to Bee as Mommy if we're all in a conversation together with Charlie. But if it's just the two of us, then I just call her Bee.

I think as Charlie starts to talk more, I may have to call her Mom more. Because when I call her Bee a lot, then Charlie starts to call her Bee too. Which is weird.

I'm not sure what is weirder: Charlie calling his mom by her first name, or me calling my wife "Mommy." If I had to choose though, I'd say that me calling my wife Mommy is weirder.

Does your SO ever call you Mom or Mommy in front of the kids? What about when it's just the two of you?
