Yeah, my 16 month old has just started doing this. I ask her, would you like a nap? And she says map! And goes and lays down on her bed. It's really adorable.

@SAHM0811: Aw. that sounds adorable. I need to teach DS to sign sleep, that's a totally useful one!

DS will go to his little bed at school and lie down with his blankie if he is tired.

I'm jealous of your sleepers, I really am! My son only now just started telling me that he wants a nap and he's a year old. Of course, he doesn't tell me so much as shows me. He grabs his blanket and comes and gets me, so I pick him up, change his diaper, and put him to bed in his crib with a pacifier if he wants it.

I will ask her if she wants to sleep and I sign it at the same time... If she's tired enough and it's time, she usually signs back... It's so cute!

@Honeybee: I do have a feeling that she takes after her daddy and just loves sleep. We got lucky with this kid!

@artbee: Maybe your LO will be the exception. :) Anyway I think DD might drop her nap soon, and that might be part of our problem.

Sigh, DD used to do this, too. Starting around 15 months, she would just tell us when she was ready for bed. Sometimes she'd just go upstairs and start getting ready for bed if we were taking too long.

Now she's fighting sleep like crazy and I miss those days desperately, lol.

We finally got to the point too that we can say, Ok, are you ready for bed and she will let us pick her up and she puts her head down without a fight.

For the first 8 months of my LO's life she would fight sleep. Now.... she loves it!

For nap time usually I will ask her if she's ready for nap, and will say "yeah," and walk right over to me so I can put her in her crib, no questions or fights about it. But sometimes she'll look tired, lay down on the floor, or walk over to her crib so I'll ask if she wants to nap early, and she'll say, "yeah." and I let her.

Last night was the first time LO did this with bed time too. We were all playing in her room and she tried to put her doll in her crib so I asked if her doll was sleepy and wanted to go night night. She said no, and tried to climb in the crib herself. I asked if she wanted to go night night, and she said yeah. So I let her go to bed a little early.

I'm feeling very blessed right now that we don't have to fight at nap and bed time!
