I walked into my almost 2 year old's room this morning to get him after he woke up. I hadn't even said anything, but he looked at me and loudly exclaimed, "no!" It's ridiculous.

Yep, my son is 3 years old and we have started calling him contrary. My husband was evidently the same way at that age.

Yep! I swear, sometimes I could say "Do you want a cookie?" and he'd be like "No!" It's pretty much hard wired into their DNA to disagree! Usually, I ignore it with a casual comment: "Oh, you don't think it's cold? I do." or "Actually, I do feel tired. How about you?" It phases away eventually.

Typical conversations with my 3 year old:

me: "its cold outside"
DD: "No it's NOT!"

me: "I don't know how to draw a horse"
DD: "Yes you do"

me: "I'm tired"
DD: "No you're not!"

It's very tiring constantly arguing with her about everything!
